Vikrant Massey talks about walking away from ₹ 35 lakh per month TV contract; says, “My wife Sheetal used to give me pocket money for auditions”
Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey has been basking the success of his latest film 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The movie narrated the inspiring real-life journey of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who rose from humble beginnings to become an IPS officer, overcoming numerous obstacles along the way.
In an interview with Unfiltered by Samdish, Vikrant Massey delved into his early days in the entertainment industry, shedding light on his transition from television to cinema. The actor reminisced about his time working in daily soaps and the pivotal moment when he decided to embark on a new path in the world of cinema. He shared, “I earned a lot in TV. I bought my first house at the age of 24. But all that regressive content on TV was happening simultaneously and I felt like coming out of the world and trying my luck in cinema. I realised that though I became secure financially, it didn't help me sleep well. I had this realisation when I fulfilled all my financial responsibilities towards my parents and others.”
He further added, “My parents were in shock when I told them I am going to restart over in films. I was making a lot of money. At the age of 24, I was earning ₹ 35 lakh per month, especially for someone who comes from a middle-class background. I quit TV at the time when I had a ₹ 35 lakh per month contract in my hand. I decided to do good work and find peace.”
Moreover, Vikrant Massey candidly shared insights into his personal life, highlighting the unwavering support of his wife Sheetal Thakur. He shared, “My savings got exhausted in a year and then my wife Sheetal (his girlfriend at the time) used to give me pocket money for auditions.”
Massey and Thakur tied the knot in February 2022 after dating for several years. They have kept their relationship relatively private. The couple welcomed their first child, a son on February 7, 2024.
