When Shah Rukh Khan was asked to become a photographer as Mithun Chakraborty caused commotion on Om Shanti Om set

Farah Khan, the director of the 2007 blockbuster Om Shanti Om, recently shared a memorable incident involving veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty. During an interview with Radio Nasha, Farah revealed that Mithun Da’s arrival on the set caused a stampede among the crew. The excitement was palpable as fans and crew members alike were eager to catch a glimpse of the legendary Disco King.

Shah Rukh Khan becomes the photographer

As the chaos ensued, crew members handed their phones to Shah Rukh Khan, requesting him to take pictures of them with Mithun Da. Farah Khan described the scene, noting how everyone, including lightmen and lightboys, flocked to the set. Mithun Chakraborty, who had been the president of the Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) at the time, was revered for his contributions to the industry, adding to the overwhelming enthusiasm.

The legendary dance moves

During the filming of the song ‘Deewangi Deewangi,’ Mithun Chakraborty performed his iconic dance moves from their 1982 hit Disco Dancer. Shah Rukh Khan, in a light-hearted moment, tried to imitate Mithun Da’s steps. The veteran actor’s signature moves were met with cheers, and SRK’s playful attempts to mimic them added to the fun, with Mithun Da even giving him a pat on the head.

Star-studded ensemble in ‘Deewangi Deewangi’

‘Deewangi Deewangi’ is renowned for its star-studded ensemble, featuring 31 celebrities, including Priyanka Chopra, Tabu, Karisma Kapoor, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Juhi Chawla, Preity Zinta, Lara Dutta, Zayed Khan, and Urmila Matondkar. The track also brought together veterans like Dharmendra, Mithun Chakraborty, Rekha, and Jeetendra. The song was a homage to John Jani Janardhan, the iconic number from the 1981 film Naseeb.
