Aparshakti Khurana shares father’s old school rule of touching Ayushmann Khurana’s feet shaped their bond: “It’s a very old school Ram-Lakshman kind of relationship”

Aparshakti Khurana is well-regarded not only for his remarkable acting but also for his close bond with his brother, actor Ayushmann Khurrana. At a recent screening of his new film, Berlin, Aparshakti was observed bowing and touching Ayushmann's feet, a gesture he has now addressed publicly. Reflecting on the video, Aparshakti explained that this practice was instilled in them by their father.

In a recent interview with Digital Commentary, Aparshakti, who was last seen in Stree 2, elaborated on how the tradition of touching his older brother's feet began. He described their relationship as "old-school Ram-Lakshman" and shared that their father had set a rule requiring him to touch Ayushmann's feet each morning, or he would be barred from living in the house.

Aparshakti said, “The thing is, you don’t really know how to speak with your older brother when you are young, you don’t know how to respect him. So Papa used to keep telling me to call him ‘bhaiya’ but I wouldn’t.” He also remembered a battle he had with his brother when he was between the ages of eight and nine.

He recalled, “One day, when we were playing, we got into a fight and I called him something like 'saala' or 'kameena' or something and that day I was beaten up a lot. After that, the conclusion was that from this day on, you will call him 'bhaiya' and every morning you will touch his feet in the morning and that is the only way you can stay in this house, or you can’t stay in this house.”

Aparshakti shared an insight into their relationship and said, “I think once you start doing this, there is less scope to fight or to have a conflict, because then you can’t yell at them, and you will not say any bad thing. And if you don’t say anything bad, there is no room for a fight, so it’s a very old school Ram-Lakshman kind of relationship. We have a very middle class and small town upbringing and, perhaps, that’s why things are still good between us.”

On the work front, Aparshakti Khurana's Berlin is presently streaming on Zee5. It also stars Rahul Bose and Anupriya Goenka in key roles.
