Viraj Ghelani opens up about 'worst experience' on the set of Jawan, says “The work culture was yahan khada ho ja, yeh kar le”

Viraj Ghelani recently shared his less-than-pleasant experience of working on Jawan, directed by Atlee and starring Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara. During a podcast on The Having Said That Show, the content creator disclosed that the work environment on the set was far from ideal, mentioning that he was spoken to in a rude manner and treated dismissively.

A disappointing experience on set

Reflecting on his time on the film’s set, Viraj expressed his frustration, saying, “Don’t talk. F**k. Why did I do it? People are very sweet who watched the film for me, but it was my worst experience ever.” He explained that despite working with big names like Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, and Nayanthara, he felt disregarded. “The work culture was ‘yahan khada ho ja, yeh kar le (stand here, do this),” he shared, pointing out how he was merely directed around without much consideration.

A frustrating moment with props

Recalling a specific incident, Viraj mentioned that during a scene where he was supposed to hold a gun as a cop, the prop never came to him. He explained, “They said the gun will come to you, stand here. I was like okay. But the gun never came.” The entire situation left him feeling unimportant and overlooked, as if his presence didn’t matter on set.

Work lost in editing

To add to his disappointment, Viraj revealed that much of his work never made it to the final cut. “I shot for 10 days in Madh Island in the heat of May. Then suddenly, I see that whatever we worked on for 15 days, they only used what we shot during the first 30 minutes on the first day,” he lamented. He also hinted that creators like him were cast merely for their social media clout, saying, “Creators are cast for their clout only.”
