Trade experts predict lifetime collections of Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3: "BB3 can go beyond 275 crores with an open run until December 5"

The Diwali releases – Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 – are running successfully in cinemas for more than two weeks. We spoke to trade experts to find out more about it.

When asked about where these films would go from here on and the lifetime earnings, trade veteran Taran Adarsh said, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has clearly raced ahead of Singham Again, especially if you look at the second-week trend. That is because of the acceptability, the music, casting and the horror-comedy genre. There was a lot of fresh appeal. It balances all the factors beautifully, be it horror, comedy, cast, music etc. and it comes out as a very good package. Hence, it has found acceptance from families and kids.”

As for lifetime collections, he said, “It’s a bit too early. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 can touch 275 crores. It can go beyond that as well. It has an open run until December 5 and the new releases are not looking favourable. Unless Karan Arjun manages to attract the audience in hordes as it’s a pure masala entertainer.”

Trade analyst Atul Mohan agreed, “With no major release, by default, both films will have a run until the release of Pushpa 2 on December 5. Both might reach Rs. 250 crores slowly and steadily.”

He also felt that one can’t underestimate the re-release of Shah Rukh Khan-Salman Khan starrer Karan Arjun, “You never know. It’s a big film. The new generation has not seen it in cinemas. Although I have seen it in cinemas 2-3 times, I still want to see it. Hence, it may surprise.”

Girish Johar, producer and film business analyst, opined, “Singham Again has not met the expectations. The cost of course was high but the kind of cast it had, much more was expected from the film. So, it failed to deliver in terms of the content. On the other hand, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 can cross the Rs. 250 crores mark.”

Film exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi stated, “With Kanguva not having done as much as we were hoping for, both the films will have long legs and have the potential to go past the Rs. 250 crores mark.”
