Ali Fazal pens thoughtful note for Tom Cruise ahead of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning release: “Thank you for keeping the theatres alive”

Ahead of the global release of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on May 17, which opens first in India, Bollywood actor Ali Fazal extended his support to Hollywood star Tom Cruise. In a heartfelt social media post shared on Tuesday, Fazal praised Cruise’s continued efforts to uphold the theatre-going experience. The two actors were seen together in a selfie, presumably from a past event, as Fazal expressed admiration and encouragement for Cruise’s upcoming release.

The film, part of the iconic Mission: Impossible franchise, has generated high anticipation globally, with India marking its first theatrical destination. Tom Cruise has long been regarded as a key figure in keeping large-scale cinematic releases alive, particularly post-pandemic. Ali Fazal, acknowledging this effort, wrote, “Best of luck @tomcruise !! You wont need it .,but sending you wishes here as i also thank you for keeping the theatres alive and hope that we follow after .. and carry on makin movies and telling stories cuz thats really it, all of it- stories.” Ali Fazal’s Message Rooted in Solidarity Fazal’s note was not just congratulatory—it reflected deeper sentiments about the current state of global cinema. Readers may recall that, on May 13, we reported the list of cuts made on the film. For the unversed, CBFC has removed two ‘obscene’ words from the audio and subtitles at 2 hours and 5 minutes and at 2 hours and 34 minutes. Meanwhile, the makers have voluntarily muted two words, b***h and b*****d, wherever they occurred. CBFC passed the action entertainer with a U/A 13+ certificate on May 9.
